Approval Process for New Ογ½ΆΦ±²₯-led Programs
The procedure for developing a Ογ½ΆΦ±²₯-led program at a new site is outlined below. A new site is defined as a site at which Ογ½ΆΦ±²₯ has not previously been engaged (no previous Ογ½ΆΦ±²₯-led programs or agreements) or a site at which there was a previous agreement, but the agreement expired and was not renewed.

Exploration and Consultation
Each new program site requires a Ογ½ΆΦ±²₯ champion. The champion is responsible for maintaining contact with and developing the collaborative site. During the beginning stage of the development process, the faculty champion will identify the opportunities that exist, including interprofessional opportunities; the priorities of the collaborative site; and any constraints that would determine the capability, suitability, and sustainability of the potential site.
To begin the process of establishing a new program site, the champion must consult with the Office of Global Health. This meeting is intended to discuss projects and initiatives, identify potential hurdles and challenges, as well as ensure the addition of a new site will support Ογ½ΆΦ±²₯'s goal of sustainability of international program sites.
After consulting with the Office of Global Health (OGH), the champion must submit an International Collaboration Worksheet to OGH. The Worksheet will be reviewed by OGH prior to routing for additional review and approval at both the school level and institutional level.
Review and Approval
Step 4: School Level Approval
The champion will forward the completed Worksheet to his/her school's Global Health Steering Committee. A meeting will be arranged between Steering Committee members and the champion to discuss feasibility and potential impacts on international initiatives and projects currently sponsored by the school.
If approved by the Global Health Steering Committee, the Worksheet will be forwarded to the appropriate dean for review and approval.
Step 5: Institutional Level Review
All requests for new international program sites are reviewed by the Ογ½ΆΦ±²₯ International Affairs Council (IAC). IAC review is necessary to support Ογ½ΆΦ±²₯'s goal of interprofessionalism. During the review process, the IAC may request a meeting with the champion to discuss the proposal in greater detail and to ask questions around the development of interprofessional opportunities.
Development and Execution
All Ογ½ΆΦ±²₯ team members leading an international program for students are required to complete training offered by the Office of Global Health. To complete this step, please contact the Office of Global Health.
Prior to leading a program abroad, the Ογ½ΆΦ±²₯ team leader is required to complete a Ογ½ΆΦ±²₯-led International Program Proposal. To receive a copy of the proposal, please contact the Office of Global Health. Upon completion, the proposal must be reviewed and approved by the Office of Global Health, the champion, the Global Health Steering Committee, the department chair, the dean, and the Office of the Provost.
The Ογ½ΆΦ±²₯ team leader will work in collaboration with the Office of Global Health to open the application, accept student participants, and ensure all pre-departure requirements are completed by participating faculty, staff, and students.
Future Programs
Each future program offered at the approved site requires the completion of the Development and Execution phase outlined above. This includes the completion and approval of a Ογ½ΆΦ±²₯-led International Program Proposal and pre-departure requirements.
Strategic Plan
After demonstrated success and sustainability of the international program site, the champion will be required to submit a strategic plan to the Office of Global Health. The Office of Global Health will contact the champion with the necessary templates to be used for development of the strategic plan.
