The approved multiple projects in regards to Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (Ï㽶ֱ²¥). Beginning this year, Ï㽶ֱ²¥ will see improvements to campuses and their schools.
The Ï㽶ֱ²¥ School of Allied Health Sciences was approved to adopt a new name. The school now will be the Ï㽶ֱ²¥ School of Health Professions, to reflect upon the broad range of programs and high level of education offered. Name change will begin immediately to TÏ㽶ֱ²¥ internal and external audiences.
The new Department of Otolaryngology has been approved within the Ï㽶ֱ²¥ School of Medicine. The medical practice covers disease and disorders of the ear, nose and throat (ENT) and head and neck related structures. Clinical treatment, academic and research related practices will be conducted, in addition to establishing and maintaining a new residency training program.
Ï㽶ֱ²¥ also received authorization for several new building projects on three of Ï㽶ֱ²¥ campuses: , and . Expansion of the Lubbock campus will include a new gross anatomy lab and more space for study and research. Odessa will begin design on the new Permian Basin Academic Facility, which will accommodate lecture halls, classrooms, research laboratories and other support space. Amarillo campus will open planning and design for the new Panhandle Clinical Simulation Center. This center will feature state-of-the-art simulation technology and equipment to train and prepare health professions, medical and nursing practice.
