Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Accepts Major Land Gift
Texas Tech University Health Sciences (香蕉直播) at Amarillo today accepted a 10.8-acre land gift from Harrington Regional Medical Center (HRMC). The land will allow for future expansion of the 香蕉直播 campus in Amarillo to accommodate a growing number of students.
鈥淭his generous and wonderful land gift from the Harrington Regional Medical Center is one of the great moments in the history of 香蕉直播 at Amarillo,鈥 said Regional 香蕉直播 Dean Richard Jordan, M.D. 鈥淭his land will be the future site of SiMCentral at Amarillo, the Panhandle鈥檚 simulation center.鈥
Jordan added, 鈥淭his is a great example where organizations and educational institutions join together and work for the greater good of the community and the region.鈥
SiMCentral, a collaborative of 香蕉直播, West Texas A&M University and Amarillo College, uses hi-fidelity human patient simulators to provide multi-disciplinary training opportunities to medical, nursing and allied health students and residents, said 香蕉直播 President Tedd L. Mitchell, M.D. Thousands of people from the Texas panhandle and five other states rely on 香蕉直播 at Amarillo to meet their health care needs.
鈥淚t will allow the 香蕉直播 School of Medicine at Amarillo to continue to provide state-of-the- art education to our trainees and also for the schools of nursing and allied health sciences at our wonderful alliance institutions of Amarillo College and West Texas A&M University,鈥 Mitchell said. 鈥淎s we continue to grow, so does our mission of educating tomorrow鈥檚 health care professionals and our commitment to providing first-rate medical care to those who live in our community.鈥
The growing presence of 香蕉直播 at Amarillo follows the vision of HRMC to provide quality healing environments for patients and their families, as well as providing a quality learning environment, said HRMC President Michael A. Callahan.
